Meet Rhodes Farrell: Your New Executive Director

We are absolutely thrilled to introduce Rhodes Farrell as the new Executive Director of the Reedy Reels Film Festival!

For those of you who live and breathe film, community, and creativity, you’re going to love what Rhodes brings to the table. He’s not just an executive; he’s one of us—a dedicated filmmaker and a passionate builder of the Upstate creative scene. He’s also a resident of Spartanburg, further grounding Reedy Reels in the heart of South Carolina.

A Camera, a Community, and a Company

Rhodes has been making and supporting films for nearly two decades. While he may have started in audio in high school, it wasn’t long before the camera found him. Now, as he puts it, filmmaking isn’t just what he does; it’s who he is.

You might already know Rhodes as the founder of Film Bar Greenville, where he built a community of over 2,000 members and organized film challenges that resulted in more than 40 original short films; many of which have screened at the festival. He brings that same drive for community and creation to Reedy Reels.

He’s also a seasoned professional, having run his own video production company, Scenic Rhodes Productions, for eight years, specializing in corporate, narrative, event, and documentary filmmaking.

When he’s not behind the lens or organizing a festival, Rhodes shares his expertise on his YouTube channel and podcast, “Indie Film Hub,” and finds inspiration from creatives like Walt Disney, various YouTubers, and his wife, Emmy (an amazing artist, teacher, and ceramicist). He also shares his home with a great support system: his cat, Carol, and his dog, Willow.

Why Reedy Reels, Why Now?

For Rhodes, filmmaking and community go hand-in-hand.

“Community and filmmaking are probably the two biggest things I strive for… Filmmaking demands community to not only create the films but to also share the stories that are held within them. I invite you to join our community and make our story part of yours.”

He is here to see the filmmaking community in South Carolina continue to flourish, and he’s ready to support the independent voices and cinematic appreciation that Reedy Reels is all about.

As our former board members take on a new roles as our advisory board, we welcome new faces to our current team that we are thrilled to see take us into the future.
